A small village below the Cooley Mountains, on the banks of Carlingford Lough.
Blessed by Mother Nature. With picturesque views of the Lough where the Mountains of Mourne sweep down to the sea.
The name of our house is Shore Hideaway as it is tucked away at the side of the mountain and off the beaten track. It is very private. We are on the southern side of the boarder between Ireland and Northern Ireland.
A very outdoorsy environment.
Nearby are, Water sports, Hiking, Greenway, Golfing, dolphins and Marina (boat & bike hire available).
The port of Grenore were dolphins often come to visit.
An hourly drive-on ferry service across the Lough for those who wish to explore the Mourne Mountains, villages and towns such as Rostrevor, Warrenpoint and Newcastle.
We are a 7 minute drive to Carlingford. A beautiful medieval town, full of history, with castles, water Adventure Centre, zip line Sky Park, hikes, and much more. There are great restaurants and fresh oysters from the Lough. Carlingford Lough is a glacial fjord in the Cooley Peninsula.
An hours drive away is the county of Meath. Newgrange is one of the most remarkable prehistoric sites in Europe, famous for the illumination of its passage and tomb during the winter solstice sun. Megalithic passage tombs that make the Brú na Bóinne Unesco World Heritage site. The site is so ancient (constructed about 5200 years ago) that it predates Egypt's pyramids by some six centuries.
Also in Meath are Trim Castle and Slane Castle.
We are approximately one hours drive from Dublin (7km) and Belfast (64km) airports.
