old renovated cosy house in Dresden, East Germany, with big garden, quite, green and central location
Our home is situated just 10 minutes walk of the centre of Dresden, well known for its many visitor attractions like the cathedral „Frauenkirche“, the "Semperoper" (Opera) and all kind of museums. On the way there is a conservation area, the baroque quarter with an excellent range of restaurants. Alternatively you can amuse yourself in the scene quarter „Neustadt“ with all kind of little shops, cafes and bars.
Our house has been built in 1830, we bought and restored it completely 19 years ago. The garden ist surrounded by a historical wall of sandstone, there is a lawn with playing field, a huge trampoline, sanding area, table tennis. We offer bikes to explore the region.
There are two bedrooms upstairs, which were the kid´s rooms. Both have a nice balcony. A third bedroom is situated is in the attic. The bathroom with tab is located on the first floor, additionaly a bathroom with shower on the ground floor. The dining and living room as well as the kitchen open out to the terrace (facing south) and the very peaceful garden.
On the same ground there is another house with 3 helpful and nice families living in, with which we raised our children the last 20 years.
Our place is an easy starting point for discovering Dresden by walking or cycling. If you like a mixture of cultural live and nature, its the right place to be.
The river Elbe is just an eight minutes walk with relaxing cafes, walking or cycling paths. In July and August there is the biggest european outdoor cinema at the Elbe-river, showing films and concerts every night and also free cultural events and daily yoga, see www.palaissommer.de
Within a few minutes from our house you can also reach the tram with 8 different lines.
If you like to walk in the huge, very nice and hilly forest called "Dresdner Heide", you can take the tram. Its just 15 minutes from our home. The city of Dresden consists of 60% green areas (parks, meadows, forest).
A main train station ( for ICE trains) is situated just a few walking minutes away offering connections to Europes main towns like Berlin (2 h) , Prague (3 h) and Leipzig (1h). it´s possible to take a bus to the baroque water castle „Schloss Moritzburg“ (30 min). Old famous porcelain manufactury in Meissen can be reached by local train every 30 minutes (30min). In Meissen you can also visit the oldest german castle, which is very nicely renovated and also the huge gothic cathedral.
The Saxony National Park is less than 40 km away (1h by rail, every 30min. leaving), offering a wide range of outdoor activities like climbing, walking, cycling, riding and canoeing.
