Our Neighbourhood
Very nearby, 27 km, is the village called Giethoorn. It's a very nice place where you have a lot of water activities. The small village of Giethoorn is located in the North of Overijssel, in the centre of De Wieden nature reserve and close to De Weerribben National Park. The charming village of Giethoorn is characterised by its many canals, quaint high bridges and farmhouses with thatched roofs. In combination with the natural beauty of the area, this picturesque entourage has earned the nickname “The Green Venice”. Giethoorn has everything to offer for young and old. There are still unique sites to discover by boat, on foot or by bicycle.
12 Km away is Kraggenburg. In the middle of the woods you have the ability to do some “klootschieten” an old dutch game, midgetgolf, instead of a nice walk in the woods you can take a step or a mountain bike.
The orchid farm is also very close, in Luttelgeest. It has lots of beautiful flowers for sale and a big garden where you can see millions of orchids. It also has the biggest butterfly park in Europe.
We also live nearby a lot of big lakes. One of them is The IJsselmeer. It has lot’s of options for swimming, fishing, sailing and other activities on the water. Nearby the IJsselmeer is a little town called Urk. It is a very nice place to visit. It’s a fisherman’s town and it used to be an Island. It has a lot of history in it.

20 minutes south of us you can find the small town of Kampen. A beautifull dutch town which is very nice to visit for a stroll. Or continue 15 more minutes and you'll find yourself in Zwolle, with its nice shopping streets.

One of the very positive things of living in the middle of Holland is that everything is very nearby. Amsterdam a great city with a lot of things you can do. It’s just one hour drive. Rotterdam a modern town with some spectacular architecture is just 1,5 hour drive. Also 1,5 hours drive is Den-Haag where you can take a look in the politicians daily jobs.

In the town itself and near us there is swimming, shopping, cinema, golf. You can do surfing, sailing and other water sports in the area as well.
