A unique loft in a rural setting, right in the city of Ottawa. We are retired and can make non-simultaneous exchanges. We are very flexible about possible dates and locations.

We are flexible about dates and duration, and can make non-simultaneous exchanges.

This unique, loft apartment is located in a quonset hut, which was used as a barn for many years, just outside the city of Ottawa. The two acre, property is surrounded by farmland where dogs can run free. We are located in the country, yet only 7 minutes to the airport & EY Centre, 20 minutes to downtown, 4 mins to the casino, golf, hiking & biking trails.

A rustically appointed, repurposed airport hangar with rounded white-washed pine ceilings that exudes relaxation. There are two spacious bedrooms with comfortable queen size beds and ample closet space. The living room couch also pulls out into a bed and is situated in the open concept kitchen/living area with a large SMART TV. The kitchen is well equipped with dishes, pots and pans, pantry items, and all the necessities for cooking a delicious meal. The three piece bathroom boasts a deep bathtub and a washer and dryer. Find every amenity such as a workspace, high speed internet, BBQ and ample parking. View brilliant sunsets from the furnished balcony and exercise your pet on the expansive property. Retreat to an experience in the country while experiencing all that the capital of Canada has to offer.

The city of Ottawa has a lot to offer visitors year round. It is Canada’s capital, in the east of southern Ontario, near the city of Montréal and the U.S. border. Sitting on the Ottawa River, it has at its centre Parliament Hill, with grand Victorian architecture and museums such as the National Gallery of Canada, with noted collections of indigenous and other Canadian art. The park-lined Rideau Canal is filled with boats in summer and ice-skaters in winter.

There is lots to do including fine dining, sight seeing, hiking, biking, spa and wellness spots, music festivals, outdoor activities, patios and more. We are less than two hours to Montreal, five hours to Quebec City, four hours to Toronto and just a bit farther to Niagara Falls. We are a great base to venturing out and beyond Ottawa itself.

About Our Family

My husband Dan and I have been married for 25 years. We have two grown children and the four of us have travelled extensively. We love to discover new corners of the world and enjoy camping, cruising, scuba diving, meeting new people and seeing new places.
Dan and I are both retired; he as an Electrician and I as a Vice Principal/Teacher. Though retired we are very busy people, always working on projects. We have just finished building a lakeside cottage in the province of Quebec. It is a year round rental property. The apartment we currently offer for exchange is a five star Airbnb rental. It is located on our principal property. We are not new to exchanges as we have previously participated in two teacher exchanges in Australia. Our first exchange was in Mudgee, New South Wales and our second was in Moonta, South Australia. We exchanged homes, cars and even our cat.
In retirement, we now have time to see the world on our own calendar, rather than the school calendar, and are quite flexible with dates and excited to share our corner of the world while we investigate yours. Some of our recent vacations have taken us to Amsterdam, Bonaire, the Galapagos and Canary Islands.
