We live on Ängö, a beautiful island close to Kalmar City, that used to be the home of the fishermen in the 19th Century. There is a small beach near the house where you can go swimming. On the other side of the island we have a small motorboat (15 hp) that you can use!
From the small beach (and one of our balconies) you can see the long bridge to Öland. Öland is one of Swedens main tourist destinations and is also the summer visit of the Swedish king and his family, There is a lot to see in Öland, many beaches, flowers, bird watching, historical wind mills and nice surroundings. There is a public "bicycle boat" to Öland from the centre of Kalmar.
You also find the famous Swedish Glassworks (Kosta, Boda, Målerås, Orrefors, Skruf, Transjö etc) close to Kalmar.
The town of historical Kalmar has nice buildings and a baroque Dome from the 17th century. We also have a fantastic castle, Kalmar slott, which was founded in the 12th century. At the County Museum you can see the exhibition of Kronan, a military ship that sunk outside Öland in the 17th Century. We also have a contemporary Art Museum and a couple of interesting art galleries. In city center you will also find many outdoor cafés and restaurants.
Kalmar is a "summer town" several beaches and historical places. The City has been selected as "The Summer City of Sweden" many years.
If you like to walk in the forrest, we have plenty of it just outside the town. By foot or bike you can take many nice walks. We have five bikes (one is a tandem for two persons) that you can use.
You can reach Kalmar with train from Copenhagen, Kastrup Airport . There is a direct train to Kalmar (3 h). From the railway station, it is 2 km to our home. Otherwise you can reach Kalmar by plane from Arlanda Stockholm (flight takes 50 min) or by train from Stockholm, 5 hours, or bus 6 hours. If you arrive by car it is a 4 h drive from Copenhagen.

About Our Family
We are a married couple, newly retired!
My husband Fredrik, 65, worked with cultural projects and I, Zara, 64, as a teacher in Swedish and social science.
We love to travel and when our children Edvard 34 and Filippa 31 were kids we swapped houses with Intervac three times (France 1997, Holland 1998 and Great Britain 2001). It was a long time ago, but we liked it!
Besides travelling, we like go to the movies or theaters, reading books, making good dinners or shopping second hand in flea markets. You can really see it in our home! My husband are really fond or the Swedish handmade glass, so we have a lot of it!
We have a cat and our happy if you can take care of him. If it is not possible we will find another solution for him during the swop.
